The Imperial Barge was built in 21 days (except for the ornaments) from the plans of engineer Guillemare. The decoration was luxurious. This ship was used by Napoléon I to visit the port of Anvers. Later, in 1858, Napoléon III and the Empress also made use of it. In 1943, the Imperial Barge was taken by rail to Paris to be laid up in the Musée National de Paris.
